Graphite Fiber

Normally called carbon fiber or TL, this compound
is made with reinforced thermoplastic fiber, named TL
because it is the “Thinnest Lightest” material (thinner and lighter) available to provide functional control. This material offers mechanical performance and rigidity comparable to those reinforced in polypropylene but with half the thickness and one third of the weight.

Advantages of Graphite Fiber Orthotics:

  • Durability: Graphite fiber is highly durable and resistant to wear and tear, making it ideal for orthotics that are subjected to constant foot movement and pressure. This results in orthotics with a longer lifespan compared to traditional materials.
  • Flexibility: It can be manufactured with different levels of stiffness, allowing orthotics to be tailored to the specific needs of the user (e.g., more flexibility for comfort or greater stiffness for support).
  • Weight: The lightness of graphite fiber orthotics contributes to overall comfort, which is crucial for people who need to wear orthotics throughout the day.
  • Biocompatibility: By preventing irritation and offering structural support, graphite fiber orthotics can help maintain or improve foot health over time, particularly for those with conditions like plantar fasciitis, flat feet, or diabetic foot issues.
  • Water Resistance: Graphite fiber is naturally resistant to water and moisture, which is beneficial for orthotics that may come in contact with sweat, rain, or other moisture. This water resistance helps keep orthotics dry and prevents the growth of bacteria and fungi.
  • Customizability: Graphite fibers can be molded and customized to fit the specific contours of a person’s foot, making it ideal for orthotics that need to be tailored for unique needs or specific foot problems. This level of customization enhances the orthotic’s effectiveness.
  • Eco-Friendly: Graphite fiber is made from natural carbon-based materials, which generally have a lower environmental impact compared to synthetic alternatives. Its durability also means orthotics made with graphite fiber last longer, reducing the frequency of replacements and minimizing waste.
